April 14, 2011, 9:10 am We wandered around a few blocks of Carmel, just taking in the sights. It’s a pretty little town, but it’s not my style—at least the shopping isn’t. We did enjoy a delicious pull-apart at a little, almost hidden shop before we left to go on our bike ride along Monterey Bay.

April 13, 2011, 9:47 pm A few miles south of Carmel along Highway 1 is Garrapata State Park. Everything is green and lush right now. Flowers are abundant, as is the new growth of poison oak. We explored both sides of the highway, hiking along the rocky bluffs and then climbing a ridge to get a nice overview of the coastline.

April 12, 2011, 8:54 pm After dinner we drove to Point Piños on the Pacific Grove shoreline and watched the sunset. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortably windy, else it would have been enjoyable to walk along the shoreline trail.
