Practicing cycling photography

The Tour of California stage race is coming soon, so I took about 100 shots today of a local bicycle club’s noon ride. I think I should try increasing shutter speed to 1/1000 of a second, and open the shutter up to a shallower depth of field to smear out the background. I’ll do that on my next practice session.

Twins at the park

We babysat the twins this afternoon and had a blast. We took them to the park where they played in the sand, poured it down the inside of their shirt, and met up with their cousins. We all had fun. See for yourself.

Monterey Bay bike trail

We started our ride from the Marina REI parking lot—the trail is just a block away. As usual, it was an enjoyable ride, although the pedestrian traffic clogged the trail a bit between Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row. We continued on to Pacific Grove, although we didn’t go as far as Asilomar. Of course, we headed to one of our favorite lunch spots—the Red House Café. We had an uneventful ride back to Marina, logging 25 miles for the ride.

Here is the pièce de résistance of lunch: crab cakes
