Our North Carolina trip was a bit too early for the fall color display. But we have good reason for not being away from home in October (like a due date for a new grandchild’s birth). This hillside at Craggy Gardens (just a few miles north of Asheville) will glow with reds, oranges, and yellows […] To our detriment, I suppose, this was as close as we got to a bluegrass performance in Asheville. There was, however, an impromptu performer on the square near an outdoor café who sang some folk country. I tend to forget that the Revolutionary War included the southern states too. Washington’s army and the battles in Boston and New York seem to grab most of my attention, but the Carolinas played an important role in the war.
