Windows Phone 7 update bricks some phones

The first Windows Phone 7 update (and a minor one at that) from Microsoft is failing to install on some phones, in some cases rendering the phones inoperable. I would think Microsoft would take special care as it tries to impress the market with its smartphone OS. I wonder if Nokia is having second thoughts about having bet the farm on depending on MS Windows Phone 7 for its future smartphone offerings.

Firefly mistake

Speaking of Firefly, as I did a few days ago, I rewatched the pilot episode (Serenity) last night and was amused by Wash (the pilot) flying the ship (Serenity) with a pretend control yoke.

Alright, which one of you jokers swiped my steering wheel?

Baptism in Del Valle

Baptism in Del Valle

Our oldest grandchild was baptized by immersion in church today. I’m very pleased she was willing to make this public profession of her Christian faith. It was quite a few years ago that I was baptized—same church, but in an outdoor, very large baptistry called Lake Del Valle.

Whenever I recall the scene this photo records, I think of the Randy Travis song, Pray for the Fish. The theology is all wrong, but I find it funny.

Pray for the fish
They won’t know what’s coming
When the sin starts rolling off the likes of him
Lord be with em, they ain’t done nothin’
