September 16, 2007, 12:28 pm Our visit to North Carolina coincided with our anniversary, and Nancy and Jerry’s. Their anniversary is just the day after ours. We celebrated with dinner out at one of their favorite restaurants.
Nancy’s mom sent a box of chocolate covered strawberries, complete with silver serving tray. A delicious treat, packed in ice, and delivered by FedEx.
Today we wandered around an upscale shopping center (Birkdales) and enjoyed wonderful Italian gelato.
September 15, 2007, 10:22 pm During our vacation to Charlotte, NC and surrounding environs, we picked up caches when they were convenient to the areas we were visiting. I added NC, SC, and TN to my list of states in which I have found caches. We particularly enjoyed hiking in the mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway and several times picked up part of the Appalachian Trail. One memorable day was spent in Cade’s Cove, although it did begin to rain. That just contributed to the Smoky Mountain look.
Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains
September 12, 2007, 12:25 pm Yesterday, in a light rain, the Smoky Mountains lived up to their name. The photo is of the ridges seen from Cade’s Cove, a small community begun around 1830.
