Lime Ridge 2

Today we were back in Concord at the Mt. Diablo Cancer Center for Karen’s dry run for her radiation treatment. After the appointment, we ate lunch at a Korean barbecue place downtown, and then headed back to Lime Ridge. This time we parked at a trail head parking area on Treat Blvd.

A State of Mind — Insanity was our first find.

Lime Pie in the Sky was cleverly hidden.

On the way up to Concord Overlook we scared up a Coyote that stood for quite a while watching us, outlined against the sky on the ridge line. The cache attachment had failed, but it was still a functional cache.

Post CT scan hike in Lime Ridge

After Karen’s CT scan we grabbed a bagel sandwich in downtown Concord and then drove on Ygnacio Valley to Lime Ridge OSP. It was sunny, but a little windy. Still, it was nice to get out and hike.

We found Fisherwoman’s travel bug cache easily at 12:40 PM and then followed single track up-hill to get A State of Mind – From Chaos comes Order at 1:05 PM. We went on to look for Welcome to Paradise Valley (a lovely location now that the grass has turned green) but we could not find it. Used the flashlight and a screwdriver to probe and pick, but no luck. Hasn’t been found for a while so maybe it’s gone.

OC and Bakersfield

Before checking out of the motel, we looked for a nice place to walk (and find a cache or two). Stopped at a park and found “Take me out to the ball game!” and looked for a way to get down into the Trabuco arroyo. It wasn’t accessible from where we were. We drove on farther, and when we passed Lake Mission Viejo we stopped and walked along the sidewalks for about an hour.

After driving back to Wasco, I decided to do some caching in Bakersfield while Karen visited with her Mom. Found Higher Class, probably so named because it’s on the location of the officer’s quarters of the old Minter Field. The cache was easy to find, but a little harder to retrieve. It was a 50 caliber ammo can suspended from a rope in a eucalyptus tree. It was a real stretch for me to unclip it. Next, I looked for Welcome to Bakersfield! and found it this time. A year ago I was not successful. It was in plain sight on the ground next to an iron railing fence post. I almost overlooked it again.

Drove south on Coffee Road and made a quick grab of Block Rivera which was in a lamp post. Then got Back of your Shoe. Surprisingly, it was a quick find too. Tucked in a crevice in a electrical transformer in back of a shopping center shoe store.
