November 9, 2007, 2:42 pm Back a few months ago, The View From Marrs posted the Top 10 Things Heard by Christians. These are actually dumb, outrageous statements made to the blogger at various times in his Christian ministry. One of them was:
“That baptism was not valid in the eyes of God because it was not done in a church baptistry.”
Said to me by another pastor when I was telling the story of baptizing someone in the Pacific Ocean. I asked him what church baptistry Jesus was baptized in. He did not think I was funny.
Amazing! Should I be concerned that my own baptism was not valid then? Our church couldn’t afford a baptistry, so I was baptized in a local lake. Frankly, it was more meaningful for me to baptized with strangers around than indoors surrounded by friends.
November 7, 2007, 2:41 pm Yesterday Dan and I took a little hike in Pleasanton Ridge, venturing to the north border of the park. The weather was perfect. The elevation graph recorded a 14 mile hike with over 2,000 ft of climbing.
November 3, 2007, 9:54 pm Yesterday afternoon was Aunt Opal’s memorial in Cayucos, so I drove down, picking up 3 caches along hiway 101 on the way. In the evening in Morro Bay I found two more down along Boardwalk.
This morning I picked up one while having coffee in the Top Dog coffee place and then hunted several just north of Morro Bay, none of which I found. Frustrating!
But I found another six along highway 1 and highway 46.
