Hill climbing cache hunts in Pleasanton

This afternoon, I decided to go for a few up on the ridges to the west.

First, I went after Bishop’s Gambit which I should have gotten when I went after Chutzpah. This one is actually in San Ramon. I used the trailhead low down on Morgan Drive, but I suspect there is another one higher up the road that would involve a much shorter (and easier) hike. This was a 2.86 mile round trip and took me about 1 hour and 10 minutes total.

The next four caches are in Pleasanton sort of west of StoneRidge. There are no parks in this area, but there are city maintained hiking trails. Black Acorn is just down the trail from the parking lot/trail head. I found it quickly.

Another Raffle Cache is farther up this same trail. In fact, it’s a 1.4 mile round trip and it is a climb up the hill, but an easy find.

To get Dumbo, I had to move one subdivision south. It’s right on a paved path (actually an old road). Once found, you understand the title. An easy find.

The trail to Upper Moller is actually an access road to a water tank up the hill. I went to the water tank and then climbed up the hill. There may have been a side trail lower down that I missed, but would have gone right by the cache. Great views from up on top of the hill.
