A week in St. George

Offhand, I do not remember how many times we have been to Zion National Park, but we have always enjoyed ourselves there, even when we repeat some activity that we have done before. We have usually stayed in a budget-priced motel in Hurricane, but this year we asked Dan, Janet, Carolyn, and Elizabeth to come with us, so we rented a nice house in St. George (well, actually in Washington) for ten days.

It’s an all-day drive from the Bay Area to St. George so we arrived after the homeowner’s association gates were closed for the night. I couldn’t open the gate, so had to call the owner. It turns out when the access code is given as #1234, the # is important—I should have thought of that but I was pretty tired.

We traveled on Saturday, and decided to just hang around the house on Sunday. I trouble-shot the wi-fi (had to reboot the router) and the kids went swimming. I really liked the house and would seriously consider returning, even for just the two of us.1

This is the backyard and the adjoining golf course.

We had a number of activities planned (not all of them in the national park) and figured we’d find some more as the week unfolded.

1Sometime after we returned I checked the VRBO web-site and this house is no longer advertised.
